After School Activities
Manor Gardens School aftercare is a facility offered by the school to create a safe environment for children whose parents are at work in the afternoo. The school employs three assistants
Mandy Barnes - Grades 1 and 2
Des Wesson - Grades 3 and 4
Leone Lemmer - grades 5,6,and 7
Homework - written work only is done with the grade 2 children in the young group. Homework is supervised for grades 3 to 7, with those whose parents have requested it. Grades 5 to 7 have a room available for quiet study for tests and exams.
All three groups have age appropriate constructiontoys, puzzels, board games and books. Hand craft and artwork is available to the children, but not enforced. They are, however, encouraged to participatein 'special' projects that arise with cultural/religious events such as easter, christmas, mothers' day and fathers' day etc.
Grades one and two are based in the Junior Primary area and have the use of the jungle gym. Grades 3 to 7 have access to the school fields, where, generally, the boy are very involved in ball games.
TV is mainly reserved for Fridays and is viewed by all three groups - should they chose to watch.
After a structured day at school our aim is to provide a relaxed, safe environment allowing for social interaction, indoor ad outdoor play.
We make sure that the children partcipate in their chosen area of extra mural activities. Adaily attendance register is kept to ensure the safety of the children, on leaving, the register must be signed by their parent or whoever is authorised to collect them. Indemity forms with contact and any essential medical details have to be completed when enrolling.
We do require the behaviour of the children to be of an acceptable standard - for the well being of all. To this end there is a demerti system. Children are expected to respect one another and not to damage equipment or the property of the school and other children.
