SGB Welcome Message

2010 WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE MGPS SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY

The School Governing Body would like to extend a warm welcome to returning and new families that have chosen Manor Gardens Primary School for their children’s education. MGPS is a small, family-oriented community school with an ongoing record of high academic achievement. The School is known for its innovative approaches to the curriculum that is supported by quality teachers and committed parents and children.

Manor Gardens Primary was a pioneer of integrated education amongst its government school peers and has sought to provide an inclusive environment for children. The School also worked hard to maintain its status as a WESSA/WWF international eco-school through enhancing learning and action around sustainability.

Sustaining the School requires the close collaboration of teachers, administrators, general assistants, parents and our children. As a small School we have to all work harder to enable the School to build on its strengths and develop new offerings. Timeous payment of fees in full enables the School to operate at its optimum and all parents must take the responsibility to ensure that resources continue to be available to support the School’s activities.

The SGB, together with parents and staff has been active for many years at MGPS and in recent years has worked to enhance sport offerings, upgraded maintenance processes, provided additional teaching support, worked with the local community on security, built new facilities, enhanced the grounds and made major new facilities funding applications which will be followed up during the course of 2010. This work is possible because parents and staff commit their time and skills to make a difference whether it is in the tuck shop, thrift shop, in fundraising events or budget planning meetings. We look forward to more good things in 2010, thank those who helped make the School run smoothly in 2009, and look forward to many more parents volunteering their time and expertise to improving our school.

Despite what some suggest this year is not just about soccer. It is also likely to be a year of major policy changes in education (again!). More importantly it is a chance for the children at the School to achieve to the best of their ability in a caring and creative environment supported by all of us.
